WYD 2008 Update #2: Day 2 in Sydney

This post was written by Noelle's sister Alicia.

Hellooo again! Today was a busy day!

We went this morning to Nowra to a school out there where we learned a lot about the aboriginal people...the indigenous people as they're called. They did aboriginal dancing for us outside in the COLD so i felt so sorry for the poor kids, and had speakers and things. It was pretty interesting...very similar situation to the Native Americans. One indigenous lady that spoke told us how her father was part of the "lost generation" where the government wouuld force children from their home. Very sad.

After that we went to a a wildlife park where we got to pet koala bears (Dawn and I got a picture with one named Henry!! We got to give him a little half hug too!) AND kangaroos!! We fed all the animals too so it was really exciting. One kangaroo grabbed the entire bag of food pellets from my hand and just started chowing down...I didn't feed him anymore after that lol:)Then we came back and had a Taize Mass which was interesting. Wouldn't like it all the time but it was neat!

By the way, asking someone if they're feeling peckish means 'are you hungry?' :)

AND we totally had steamed pudding. Very good. I'm going to ask my host mom Ann for the recipe!

Have a good day! It's about 8:53pm here so it's about 7 am there. The Aussie Festival is tomorrow so another busy day!
